The American brand Michael Kors took a bold leap as a company by buying out Versace for $2.1 billion on September 25th. Michael Kors made such a move in order to bring the brand to the level of some of the top European designers. With the acquisition of Versace and Jimmy Choo (bought for $1.35 billion in 2017), Michael Kors changed its name to Capri Holdings. Although the buyout seems as a good move for the company, Michael Kors shareholders were not convinced, and share prices fell by nearly a tenth. There was also disapproval voiced by Versace customers who feared the brand would become "tacky" and lose the original luster.
Capri Holdings will be considered a merger company; the result of one company buying another company and creating a new one. Michael Kors' motivation for the merger was to attain new markets and distribution Chanels, MK wanted to grow the company to the ranks of highly popular European designers such as LVMH and Kerig, which own brands such as Givenchy and Gucci.
Personally, I think the merger will be beneficial for Michael Kors; taking their product, which is quality and stylish, yet affordable to a larger range of clientele, and using the aspects of fashion that they bought from Versace could potentially create an incredibly popular product. However, I don't believe that Capri Holdings will be attractive to the same market that Versace once appealed to, this market will more than likely move on to the other top European designers. It may take some time for Capri Holdings to catch on and become a main designer in the fashion industry, but I don't see this merger getting the company where it wants to be.

IA02-Finding a Role Model
For all of my IAs I plan to get ahead of the due dates in order to make a quality piece. I have not yet found a role model, but when I do, I hope to have one who is a exercise science major and plans to/attends graduate school for either PT or AT. I would also like my role model to be an athlete, that way I can learn the time management skills necessary to be successful as a student athlete.
IA03- Professional Networking
I have began to meet and talk to people within our academic community. I've met my advisor, Dr. Edsall and other students who are more advanced in their major. I plan to attend an event where I can meet with grad students and professors to learn about options and professions.
IA04- Reflect on Guest Lecture-
I have not yet identified a guest lecture I would like to reflect on. If I had to pick a lecture at this point in the year, it would be the entrepreneurship from Rachel Harris. She provided good information on entrepreneurship and business in general.
IA05- Business Plan
My personal business plan would be centered around owning my own practice for physical therapy. I would identify my goals and mission statement, as well as the outlook of my career and how I would create a business that sets me above other practices.
